Glenn's Story

At 13, I knew I was different. My parents were open minded and forward thinking—until I came out. All the fears my mother had about me being gay, she manifested. My work colleagues, peers and society in general have for the most part always been open minded, understanding and supportive. I am first a man and a human being. Being gay is something that is part of me but does not define me.

Get to Know Glenn

When did you become interested in the law?

Since I was a kid, I was always interested in the rules. Only by knowing them can you bend them or use them creatively.

What inspired you to begin a career in legal recruiting?

I truly enjoy being a counselor. Sharing my knowledge, experience and expertise with my peers, candidates and clients is passion of mine. Nothing is as rewarding as when you are able to touch people and change their lives for the better.

Who has had the biggest impact/influence on your career?

My biggest influences have been my first law firm partner, Anton Hjuler, who hired me as a baby attorney, and one of my best friends, Michael Smith, who taught be communication skills and how to be positively creative.

What has working for a diversity-focused company meant to you?

When I learned our founder, Bob Major, is gay and out, I decided I had found a home with Major, Lindsey & Africa—where being gay is only one part of the equation and I am respected for the human I am.

What barriers have you had to overcome in your career?

My own fears and, of course, people’s lack of knowledge or understanding
